1. Event Title & Details
HackAPrompt 2.0 May 5th, 2025 to July 1st, 2025 ("Event Dates") To be Held Virtually
2. Rules
Eligibility: The Contest is open to individuals who are18 years or older. Employees of Learn Prompting or event sponsors, and their respective immediate family members and persons living in their same household, are not eligible to participate in the Contest.
Your Participation: You can participate as part of a team of up to four (4) total people or on an individual basis. Switching teams is not allowed. An individual who is on a team may not also participate as an individual. The Organizer will not assist in resolving any disputes between team members. To participate, all participants must register at hackaprompt.com on or before June 30th. Individuals and teams may submit one submission per Challenge (defined below) but participate in any number of Challenges.
Format: The Contest will run through the Event Dates. During this period, Participants will be invited to generate certain jailbreaking and prompt injection attacks on LLMs designated by the Organizer, each organized into distinct "challenges" grouped into five pre-determined tracks: Classic, Agents, Attacks of the Future, Open Track 1, and Open Track 2 (the "Challenge" or "Challenges"). The Organizer will announce in writing any terms or restrictions specific to any particular Challenge (any such term or restriction shall be deemed incorporated into the Rules), along with the timeline of the Challenge, prior to commencement of each specific Challenge. Once the Challenge has begun, participants will test prompts in a playground designated by Organizer that utilizes a base/safety tuned model. The individual participant or team will then choose a final prompt to submit as its official submission for the Challenge ("Submission").
3. Judging Criteria
All Submissions will initially be assigned a score using our automated systems, which will constitute that Submission's score for purposes of the leaderboard. Periodically, but no less than once per week, a human evaluator designated by the Organizer may review the top 10% of the submissions and thereafter assign a modified score, which will then be posted to the leaderboard. The individual or team with the highest score at the end of the challenge will be declared the winner.
Note that the score assigned by out automated systems and the human evaluator may not be challenged or appealed. The Organizer has the right to assign and/or modify the score of any Submission at any time in its sole and absolute discretion. Likewise, the Organizer may disqualify any Submission or Participant, in its sole and absolute discretion, including after declaring a Submission to be the winner of the Challenge, if it reasonably believes that the Submission or Participant may have violated the Rules.
4. Prizes
The Submission with the highest score according to criteria mentioned throughout the website at the close of a Challenge shall receive a cash prize ("Prize"), which will be established by the Organizer and disclosed to participants in writing before the commencement of each Challenge.
Winners will be notified by email at the email address they used for registration within thirty (30) business days of the close of the Challenge. To receive the Prize, Winners will be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, a publicity/liability release, a W-9 tax form, and a copy of each Participant's driver's license and/or passport for KYC obligations. You will not be eligible to receive any Prize if you are on the U.S Department of Treasury's "Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List" or are located in a country embargoed by the U.S. If within 60 days from the date of notice a winner does not provide all of the aforementioned information to the Organizer, fails to respond, cannot be contacted, or is ineligible, the Prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected based on the next highest score for that Challenge. Payments will be made in U.S. Dollars only and remitted via ACH, wire or check. Winners are solely responsible for any and all federal, state, provincial and local taxes, if any, that apply to Prizes. The total value of a winning team's Price will be allocated equally among the registered team members for tax purposes, but Organizer shall have no liability whatsoever on how a Prize is split or allocated among participants on a winning team.
The odds of winning any particular Prize depends on the total number of Submissions for the associated Challenge and associated skill-based success criteria. Any payout bonuses are provided on a per user basis. For a list of winners, email team@learnprompting.org with "Winners List" as the subject.
